OPW Kilkenny Castle is delighted to partner with and host a wonderful array of Kilkenny Arts Festival 2022 events at both The Parade Tower and Castle Park. The Festival is one of the annual highlights in the events calendar of the Castle, which will run from Thursday 4th to Sunday 14th August.
This year, don’t miss Shakespeare’s lyrical revenge fantasy, The Tempest; a dark comedy filled with magic, music, mischief and romance, told beneath the Kilkenny summer skies. This production by Rough Magic Theatre Company will run over ten nights in the grounds of the Castle.

As always, there will be an interesting mix of talks, conversations and performances to be enjoyed at The Parade Tower including, Paula Meehan, Theo Dorgan, Martin Hayes, Stephen Doyle, Kevin Atherton, Michael Dervan and Laoise O’ Brien to name just a few. And of course, we look forward to hosting The Hubert Butler Essay Prize 2022 and Kilkenny Poetry Broadsheet launch.
Also, don’t forget to pop along to the magnificent Rose Garden of the Castle that will once again be one of the locations of the ‘Secret Garden Music’ events that take place at various venues around the city.
