HFC Brass Band
The HFC Brass Band New Ross, Co. Wexford was founded as a Temperance band back in 1936 and has been an important feature in the social, sporting and entertainment life of New Ross since then. The Band forms part of the culture and history of the former British Army Garrison town and rehearse in the Parish Hall on a weekly basis. Members of the Band male and female hail from as far away as Gorey County Wexford and Waterford City. The Band can be seen and heard performing regularly on the Quayside at the Dunbrody Famine Ship.
Under the baton of Mr. Nicholas Cooney Musical Director the band play throughout the year at many fund raising events all over the South East of Ireland and have just returned from a festival in Carrick on Shannon Co. Leitrim such is their popularity. They are no strangers to Kilkenny playing in the Town Hall and in the Music in the Garden Series
in the grounds of Kilkenny Castle since the outset. The Band has become one of the most popular playing old favourites as well as more recent tunes from the Musicals with the occasional March. It’s always a lovely to hear the bands lively sound on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
The Band finale is always the “Beer Barrel Polka” guaranteed to leave you singing and stomping your feet as they finish their performance.
