The Undercroft

This circular chamber at the base of the west tower, is part of that defensive structure and the massive girth of the 13th  century walls is evident. There are plunging arrow loops within the wall embrasures and an excellent example of wicker centring on the ceiling that was used to support the stone vault during the building process.
