Biodiversity Week 2023: A date for your diary!
We are very excited about the Bioblitz organised by
Keep Kilkenny Beautiful due to take place on Friday 26 May at 3pm to Saturday 27 May at 3pm in the Castle Park and surrounds.
There will be a variety of events taking place over the course of the 24 hour Bioblitz; a Woodland Walk, a Dusk and Dawn Chorus, a Wild Life Safari and a Bat Walk. Participants will be involved in collection of records of river life, moth species, grassland species and more.

Please note there is no booking required for activities except the Bat Walk which takes place at 8:45pm on Friday 26 May (link below)
3.00 pm Launch at Medieval Room
3.30 pm Woodland Walk to River
3.30 – 5.30 pm Small Stream Citizen Science. Kick Sampling and invertebrate identification and other flora and fauna identification and recording.
4.00 pm Tree Walk, talk and Identification in the Castle Park
7.30 pm Validation of records
8.45 pm Dusk Chorus and Bat Walk. (Eventbrite…see link below)
6.00 am Moth Trap collection and Identification.
7.30 am Moth release and Breakfast
9.00am. Record Validation.
9.30am Grassland species identification and recording
11.30am Wild Life Safari.
2.00 pm Last Call for Records
